    Modern echosinuscope in portable design

The device is an ultrasound medical equipment of class A +B, and is designed to study the maxillary and frontal sinuses of the nose by echosinusoscopy. This method allows you to quickly and accurately conduct studies of the condition of the sinuses, the presence or absence of fluids in the sinuses, the size of the sinuses, as well as in some cases the presence of polyps.

The device uses the method of ultrasound examination of the paranasal sinuses, based on the property of ultrasound reflected at the boundary of two media with different acoustic resistance. Given the direction of the beam and the position of the reflecting point, it is possible to determine the location of the structures of interest to the researcher. Echosinuscopy considers echo signals reflected from the boundaries of "soft tissue/bone", "bone/air", "bone/sinus contents", "sinus contents/bone".

The reflection coefficient of ultrasound is very different for different interfaces. At the "bone/air" boundary, there is a complete reflection of ultrasound. At the "bone/sinus contents" boundary, a partial reflection of ultrasound occurs, and part of the ultrasonic energy passes through the boundary and spreads in a liquid, for example, in the liquid contents of the maxillary.

Echosinusoscopy is recommended for use by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation as a safe and painless method of examination, especially suitable for children, pregnant women and adults in comparison with X-ray or Computed tomography.

Some examples of the results on the display screen and their interpretation.
It is impossible to give universal examples that are suitable for all patients, since people's sinuses and measurement conditions are different. Sinuses for the same patient are rarely symmetrical and the same size.

Diagnostic examples
There is no indication or indication between 0 and 1.5 cm. Negative symptomatic. Fluid in the maxillary sinus. The display is between 3.5 and 6 cm. Positive symptomatic. Cyst or polyp in the maxillary sinus. The display is between 2 and 3 cm.
Fluid in the frontal sinus. The display is between 1 and 3 cm. Positive symptomatic. Fluid in the maxillary sinus of the child. The display is between 2 and 4 cm. Positive symptomatic.
